The minority - the ruling class at present - has the schools and the press, usually the church as well, under its thumb. This enables it to organize and sway the emotions of the masses, and makes its tools of them.
About a mile outside of my new house there is an old Tudor mansion surrounded by forested walking paths. Along the entire estate there were probably several hundred people just enjoying the atmosphere though it was large enough to feel as though there were a general air of privacy. I just can't imagine what a shocking display of affluence it must have been for all this land and beauty to belong to a single family.
Once in college I stared into a halogen bulb for 30 seconds on a dare, thus proving that a college education does not make one smart. Pretty cool what you can see with a camera though - like a captive lightening bolt scampering around for an escape.
This is a hole in the foliage inside Walton Park in Sale. Reminded me kind of like something you might find between worlds in Labyrinth, so I processed it up a bit. It was a bit of a pain to crop out David Bowie and all those Muppets, but hey, I've got content-aware!
Corridor view from the Trafford Centre outside Manchester. This building always makes me feel like I'm on some colony spaceship or the promenade deck of Flostan Paradise.
This is my version of a digital temper tantrum. I was trying to capture a sharp image of fire and failing miserably. This is a bulb shot with the zoom in and out instead.
Felt like kind of a turd taking this shot, but I had the camera in my hand already and I went with my impulse. Can't imagine being the kind of photographer that does footage for global aid NGOs. I'm always thinking, "put down the camera and give the kid some food!!"
Rest easy, it was just a small ouchie and was quickly followed by a joyous romp on the scooter!
I might have taken better photos than this today, but holy guacamole - I can't believe the subject! Growing up, my dad had a dead praying mantis preserved in formaldehyde, but I've never seen an actual living one before (have even heard people say they are endangered).
You can really get a sense of how big these ladies are with the depth of field I got between her head and tail.

Waking sleepwalkers does not harm them. While it is true that a person may be confused or disoriented for a short time after awakening, this does not cause them further harm. In contrast, sleepwalkers may injure themselves if they trip over objects or lose their balance while sleepwalking. Such injuries are common among sleepwalkers.

Despite the peaceful foundations of global monotheistic religions, the broad diversity of interpretations can lead to a sharp paradox regarding the use of force. Inevitably, we must ask ourselves: How can those who ascribe to peaceful beliefs suspend their own moral foundation to beat the drums of war? ... read more
