Cause the last time they were downsized...
Carter got his ass handed to him by the people he had laid off. We'll never know how much effect the (lack of an) October Surprise had on his failure to gain reelection, but what's clear is that fired CIA agents were involved in the Reagan team's negotiations with Iran that kept the hostages held until Reagan's inauguration.I guess that's what confuses me most,
It seems as though the White House would be a lot more cautious about pissing the CIA off. ChenyCo asserted their will on the intelligence community and then hung them out to dry when Iraq went sour. Now it seems they're going the same route with Iran.
