My token contribution to the landscape theme. Looks real, eh? This is part of the Old West scenery at EuroDisney, but true to life it felt just as serene. Can't believe how much I enjoyed our day there!
On a side note, all my images are creative commons attribution licensed. I know I watermarked this one but I don't exactly know what the rules are when it comes to posting Disney pics. Since Disney is second only to the music industry in suing their own fans, I'm going to slap a copyright notice on this one. I'm not claiming a copyright on it myself, of course, but hopefully this will shift any takedown notices away from my entry.
On that note, does anyone know the legal precedent on stuff like this? Can I 'own' - or more to the point, give away - this image if it came from inside a private park?
This is my attempt at submitting something to the Week 5 theme (Bokeh). This is an old tree stump with a tight focus on the outer edge.
I like the spheres of color in the background, though am perplexed by what makes this happen since, with the human eye, these usually end up as lines. Anyone have a scientific explanation for this?
This is a hole in the foliage inside Walton Park in Sale. Reminded me kind of like something you might find between worlds in Labyrinth, so I processed it up a bit. It was a bit of a pain to crop out David Bowie and all those Muppets, but hey, I've got content-aware!
Best of a very small pool today unfortunately. It was raining today and I just don't know how sensitive my DSLR is to such things. Anyone know how much water exposure is "safe"?
Fallacious yet widespread and documented beliefs courtesy of Wikipedia.
The word "jihad" does not always mean "holy war"; literally, the word in Arabic means "struggle". While there is such a thing as "jihad bil saif", or jihad "by the sword", many modern Islamic scholars usually say that it implies an effort or struggle of a spiritual kind. Scholar Louay Safi asserts that "misconceptions and misunderstandings regarding the nature of war and peace in Islam are widespread in both the Muslim societies and the West", as much following 9/11 as before.
